Around the World in Motorsports: Dec. 20-26
|
- The
Heart of Racing announced Wednesday that they will field two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s for the full 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. The No. 23 will have Ross Gunn and Alex Riberas for the full season. Maxime Martin will drive in the endurance races. The No. 27 will have Roman DeAngelis with Martin for the sprint races. Ian James and Darren Turner will also drive.

Racing, which competed in Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS this year, announced a two-car lineup for the Rolex 24. The No. 63 GTD Pro class Lamborghini will have Mirko Bortolotti, Andrea Caldarelli, Rolf Ineichen and Marco Mapelli. Meanwhile, the No. 19 GTD-class entry will have the team's 2021 SRO America drivers, Giacomo Altoe, John Megrue, Jeff Segal and Bill Sweedler.

DragonSpeed already has a full driver lineup for the year, but is not entering that lineup at Daytona due to the fact that the Rolex 24 at Daytona doesn't count for LMP2 points. The team will still be at Daytona with an all-star lineup. INDYCAR regulars Colton Herta, Devlin DeFrancesco and Patricio O'Ward will join Eric Lux in the No. 81 ORECA 07-Gibson.

NASCAR revealed the base rules package for the new NextGen car Tuesday. After the most recent open test at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the decision was made to go with a 670-horsepower package with a four-inch rear
spoiler.

CR7 Motorsports announced Thursday that Blaine Perkins will drive the No. 9 Chevrolet full-time in the Camping World Truck Series in 2022, replacing the combination of Codie Rohrbaugh and Grant Enfinger.

Kyle Busch Motorsports announced Tuesday that Corey Heim will significantly increase his schedule in the Camping World Truck Series in 2022, running 15 races in the No. 51 Toyota.

Series
Jesse Little announced Wednesday that he will be moving from BJ McLeod Motorsports to Young's Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series for the full 2022 season.

| | PR1 Mathaisen Motorsports Expands To 2 Cars For 2022
PR1 Mathaisen Motorsports released two press releases that announced their expansion to two cars for 2022. There will be an endurance lineup and sprint lineup in the No. 52, while the new No. 11 will have Steven Thomas and
Jonathan Bomarito for the full LMP2 schedule.
