- BMW officially unveiled their new LMDh entry that will compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship's GTP class in 2023 and be eligible for the FIA World Endurance Championship's Hypercar
class. It will now be known as the BMW M Hybrid V8.
The car will have a V8 engine, likely derived from the powerplant used in the BMW M4 silhouette racer that competed in DTM, along with the spec hybrid system. The BMW M V8 Hybrid will be based on the new Dallara chassis.
As of right now, the BMW M Hybrid V8 is being tested extensively by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, which will run two cars full-time in 2023. The manufacturer does not currently have a concurrent program announced for the WEC.
