Around the World in Motorsports: April 27
|
- SRO America announced Wednesday that the next weekend on the schedule will no longer take place at the new Ozarks International Raceway near Gravois Mills, Mo. Instead, the entire weekend has been shifted to NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, La. outside of New
Orleans.
According to SRO Motorsports America president/CEO
Greg Gill, they determined on Tuesday that they "...we could not produce the desired quality event in the limited time available." Reasoning for this mentioned infrastructure and supply chain issues. The new NOLA event will be held on the weekend of May 20-22, which would have been the Ozarks weekend.
For race fans, this will only be the second major race weekend to be held at NOLA Motorsports Park. In 2015, INDYCAR held the Grand Prix of Louisiana, a race marred by rain that was won by James Hinchcliffe.
The press release did not indicate which configuration of the road course will be used for the race weekend.
- FOX Sports announced via Twitter Wednesday that Larry McReynolds will be the guest analyst in the broadcast booth for Sunday's Drydene 400 at Dover Motor Speedway. It will be his first Cup points race in the broadcast booth since Dover in June,
2015.

Frontstretch Line of the Week
"It was funny, I went up to him at California [Auto Club Speedway] in 2018, because he sponsors Stafford [Speedway] for a contingency program. And to a guy
like myself, an extra $100 a week, I think it was — I don’t know what the actual number ended up being, but it was like, $150 a week or $250 a week — and at that moment in my racing career, if I won that night, that’s an extra tire, a little bit more gas.
"So I went up and thanked him. And then when I won Bristol [Motor Speedway], he walked by and gave me the pound as I was pulling up to victory lane. I asked him for help. Me as a racecar driver, everything I’ve done to this point was based off of local support and people that believe in me, so he stepped in. He’s helped guide me to where I am today and continues to this day creating opportunities
for me." - Ryan Preece, on the beginning of his working relationship with Kevin Harvick.
