Tuesday saw NASCAR drop the hammer on William Byron for intentionally spinning out Denny Hamlin under yellow. A 25-point penalty has been assessed. That changes some things in the points.
As a result, Byron drops from third, 13 points behind Joey Logano to 10th, 38 points back and eight points out of eighth. Everyone moves up a position. As a result, Chase Briscoe is now the last driver in the Round of 8 on points with a seven-point advantage over Austin Cindric.
