Around the World in Motorsports: July 26

- News of the testing debut of BMW's new LMDh car, the BMW M Hybrid V8, broke on Tuesday. Connor de Phillippi and Sheldon van der Linde put the car through its paces at Varano de Melegari, Dallara's test track in Italy.
This is just the beginning of an extensive testing schedule for the new car. It is scheduled to debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January.

| | Michael McDowell Hit With L2 Penalty, Docked 100
Points
NASCAR announced substantial penalties to Michael McDowell's No. 34 team Tuesday. They have been given a 100-point penalty and crew chief Blake Harris has been suspended four weeks after NASCAR discovered body
modifications after Sunday's M&M's Fan Appreciation 400.

| | Daniil Kvyat Making Cup Debut at
Indy
Team Hezeberg announced Tuesday that former Red Bull and Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kyvat will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut this weekend at Indianapolis in a second entry, No. 26, for the team.

Brickyard
For Sunday's 200-mile Cup race in Indianapolis, there are 38 teams entered. As noted above, Daniil Kyvat will drive a second Team Hezeberg entry. Joey Hand and AJ Allmendinger are back, the latter set to defend his
victory from last year.

2022
In an interview with Frontstretch Tuesday, Brandon Brown told our own Dalton Hopkins that he will only be in the Brandonbilt Motorsports No. 68 for a few races for the rest of the season due to sponsorship
issues.

For Saturday's NASCAR Xfinity Series action at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, there are 42 teams entered. Six NASCAR Cup Series regulars are entered, including Alex Bowman, Bubba Wallace and Austin Dillon. DGM Racing
is fielding four cars. Andy Lally and Scott Heckert are also back in the field.

For Saturday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series' return to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, there are 36 teams entered. Chad Chastain is back with Niece Motorsports in their No. 41 where brother Ross' truck
career started. Chris Hacker will drive for On Point Motorsports, while Taylor Gray is back in the No. 17.
