Records and facts
Last year's Season Finale 500k saw the Championship 4 drivers dominate the race. Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. combined to lead all but 39
laps.
With 30 laps to go, the yellow came out due to debris in turn 3. That brought everyone onto pit road for the final stops of the year.
Hendrick Motorsports got Larson out first with what was then one of the quickest four-tire stops ever. From there, Larson held on to take his 10th win of the year and the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship.
Larson was .398 seconds ahead of Truex at the finish. Denny Hamlin was third, then Ryan Blaney and Elliott.
Harvick is the winningest driver at Phoenix International Raceway all-time with nine victories on the tricky tri-oval Jimmie Johnson has four victories in his own
right, while Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. each have three.
Nine drivers have two victories in Phoenix. Hamlin and Joey Logano are the active drivers in the group. The others are Davey Allison, Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin and Ryan Newman.
