With Thanksgiving done and dusted, we will be launching some more offseason content for your pleasure. Starting next Monday (Dec. 5), we will be giving out awards for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR
Camping World Truck Series, NTT IndyCar Series, ARCA Menards Series and Formula 1. We'll also count down the top 10 stories of 2022 and look at what remains to be settled in Silly Season. |
What to Watch: Nov. 28-Dec. 4 |
- For NASCAR, this week is
Champions Week in Nashville. As compared to pre-pandemic years, the festivities are fairly limited. The only listed event open to the public is a Checkered Flag Celebration in partnership with Barstool Sports at Jason Aldean's at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT) Wednesday night. The 2022 NASCAR Awards
are scheduled for Thursday evening at 6 p.m. ET at the Music City Center. There will be radio coverage of the banquet starting at 7 p.m. ET on local MRN Radio affiliates and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. There will be TV coverage of the
banquet via tape delay on Peacock Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET. A subscription will be required to view the banquet. - This week is the Snowball Derby
at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla. There will be six days of coverage from the half-mile facility, starting with a Kickoff Party Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET. All coverage will be streamed on RacingAmerica.tv. Some of the coverage will be free to stream, while Thursday night's action will be for Racing America subscribers only. Friday night, Saturday and Sunday's coverage will be pay-per-view only. - Tonight, Interstate Batteries Monday Night Racing continues with the drivers racing Xfinity cars on the legacy version of Texas Motor Speedway. Coverage of the fourth round of the season starts at 7:45 p.m. ET on Podium eSports' Twitch channel. It will also be streamed on their Twitter feed. For this season, Frontstretch has entered into a sponsorship deal with Monday Night Racing. During the offseason, we will weekly 5 Points to Ponder columns about each event, in addition to a post-race show on our YouTube channel. That is in addition to race recaps. We will have a recap of tonight's MX-5 race and anything else that breaks today at Frontstretch. |
Around the World in Motorsports: Nov. 21-27 |
- Justin Grant started 13th Saturday night and drove to the front Saturday night at Ventura Raceway. He was able to
get past Tanner Thorson with 15 laps to go and held on to win the Turkey Night Grand Prix, the season finale for the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship. Kyle Larson, who was a surprise last-minute entry to the race, finished second. Bryant Wiedeman was third, then Jake
Andreotti and Kevin Thomas Jr. In the points, Buddy Kofoid crashed out and finished 23rd. However, he had already clinched the title prior to
the race. He won the title by 203 points over Grant. Thomas Meseraull finished third in points, then Wiedeman and Cannon McIntosh. - At Southern National Motorsports Park Saturday night, JR Motorsports' Josh Berry took the lead away from Jared
Fryar in the final 50 laps and held on to successfully defend his victory in the Thanksgiving Classic from last year and take the $50,000 winner's check. Fryar was second, then Kaden Honeycutt, Deac McCaskill and Matt McCall. As a result of Majeski's DQ, Michael Atwell has been declared the winner of the 128-lap race. Austin Nason was
second, then Derek Kraus, Michael Goddard and Anthony Sergi. |
