- Isotta Fraschini officially unveiled their new Hypercar, the Tipo 6 LMH Competizione, on Tuesday. This car is planned to debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship's Hypercar class at some point later this year as the team was denied a spot on the grid for the full season. No drivers have been named as part of the project to this point.
The announcement is the official return of the Tipo name to top-flite racing for the first time in more than 100 years. Tipos competed in early races at the beginning
of the 20th century.
The information provided indicates that the Tipo 6 LMH Competizione is a four-wheel-drive race car with a turbocharged three-liter V6 engine paired with a 270
horsepower electric motor.
The Tipo 6 LMH Competizione is just the first model as part of the Tipo 6 line. In the spirit of the Hypercar regulations, there are two other versions of the Tipo 6
LMH. In addition to the race car, there is the Tipo 6 LMH Pista, which is a track day car. There is also the Tipo 6 LMH Strada, described as "A car without any compromise, which wishes to make the impossible become possible." It is a street-legal version of the car that will be built in "a limited capsule collection."
