- In Free Practice No. 1 at Silverstone, Red Bull's Max Verstappen dominated the whole session. Early
on, he was a full second ahead of the field. By the end of the session, he was .448 seconds ahead of teammate Sergio Perez. Williams' Alexander Albon was a surprising third, followed by Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
There were no red flags during the session, but AlphaTauri's Nyck de Vries did run into trouble.
The rookie driver spun at Luffield early on, but was able to continue without incident.
Free Practice No. 2 saw Verstappen keep himself at the top of the chart with a lap at 149.636 mph,
just .022 seconds ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr. Albon was third again with his upgrades providing a lot of straight-line speed, something that has always been important at Silverstone. Perez was fourth, while Logan Sargeant was fifth.
- In World Endurance Championship action this morning, Ferrari AF Corse's Alessandro Pier Guidi
was fastest in Free Practice No. 1 with a lap at 132.878 mph. That lap was a mere three-thousandths of a second faster than the customer Porsche of Hertz Team JOTA's Yifei Ye. Porsche Penske Motorsport's Michael Christensen was third, then Toyota GAZOO Racing's Mike Conway. Olivier Pla in the Glickenhaus was fifth.
Team WRT's Robert Kubica was fastest in LMP2 with a lap at 129.140 mph, 14th overall. He was .205
seconds faster than teammate Ferdinand Habsburg. Inter Europol Competition's Albert Costa was third, then Signatech Alpine's Charles Milesi and Vector Sport's Gabriel Aubry.
AF Corse's Davide Rigon was fastest in GTE-Am with a lap at 120.516 mph. He was .107 seconds
faster than the Porsche of Iron Lynx's Matteo Cressoni. GR Racing's Riccardo Pera was third, then the similar Porsches of Mikkel Pedersen and Matteo Cairoli.
Free Practice No. 2 saw Toyota GAZOO Racing's Kamui Kobayashi go fastest with a lap at 134.491 mph. His lap was .170 seconds
faster than Ferrari AF Corse's Antonio Fuoco. Brendon Hartley was third in the second Toyota, then Chip Ganassi Racing's Alex Lynn in the sole Cadillac. Porsche Penske Motorsport's Frederic Makowiecki was fifth.
Kubica was again fastest in LMP2 with a lap at 129.658 mph, .181 seconds faster than Costa. Habsburg was third, then United
Autosports' Phil Hanson and Prema Racing's Doriane Pin.
Iron Lynx's Alessio Picariello was fastest in GTE-Am with a lap at 121.152 mph. He was .358 seconds faster than Pera. Cairoli was
third, then Rigon and Dempsey-Proton Racing's Julien Andlauer.
The only red flag of the day cut the first session short by three minutes when Project 1 - AO's Efrin Castro crashed his
Porsche at the first Lesmo turn. For Castro, this weekend is his first WEC start. His previous experience is primarily in Porsche Carrera Cup North America (where he is the current Pro-Am class points leader) and in GT4 racing. The team was able to repair the Porsche 911 RSR-19 in time for the second session.
- In IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge action, Lone Star Racing's Scott Andrews was quickest overall in
opening practice at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park with a lap at 107.191 mph. Andrews' lap was .041 seconds quicker than the Chevrolet of Rebel Rock Racing's Robin Liddell. Motorsports In Action's Jesse Lazare was third in his McLaren, then Turner Motorsport's Robby Foley, fresh off his Watkins Glen victory. Winward Racing's Daniel Morad was fifth.
VGRT's Karl Wittmer, in his home race, was quickest in TCR with a lap at 105.553 mph, 22nd overall. Wittmer's lap was .761 seconds
faster than van der Steur Racing's Tyler Maxson. JDC-Miller MotorSports' Chris Miller was third, then Michael Lewis and Ryan Eversley.
