Around the World in Motorsports: May 22 |
- Monday was the eighth practice session for the Indianapolis 500 and the first one fully dedicated to race runs. Team Penske's Will Power was fastest with a lap at 229.222 mph. The lap was .0065 seconds faster than
Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon. Teammates Takuma Sato and Alex Palou were third and fourth, while Arrow McLaren SP's Tony Kanaan was fifth. The two-hour session was marred by the first crash of the month when Katherine Legge ran in the back of Stefan Wilson entering turn 1, sending both drivers hard into the wall. For more on the
