Records and facts
Last year's Toyota/Save Mart 350k saw a number of different pit strategies play out. When a caution flew for debris with 27 laps to go, that led the last group of drivers that couldn't make it to the end to pit.
Trackhouse Racing Team's Daniel Suarez took the lead during the caution. Once the
green came out, he opened up a healthy advantage and held on to claim his first (and to this point, only) career NASCAR Cup Series victory. Suarez won by 3.849 seconds over Chris Buescher. Michael McDowell was third, then Kevin Harvick and Austin Cindric.
Among active drivers, Truex has the most victories at Sonoma Raceway with three. Kyle Busch has two wins, while Suarez, Harvick and Kyle Larson each have one.
All-time, Jeff Gordon is the winningest Cup driver at Sonoma with five wins. He swept the three races run on the 1.949 mile short course (1998-2000), then won two more once the short course was reconfigured into the 1.99-mile
configuration in 2001. Truex and Tony Stewart have three career wins at Sonoma, while Kyle Busch, Ernie Irvan, Rusty Wallace and Ricky Rudd all have two wins at Sonoma. Only Rudd and Truex have won on both the short course and the long course.
For the long course, Irvan, Wallace and Rudd each claimed two wins. The other events were won by Davey Allison (1991), Geoff Bodine (1993), Dale Earnhardt (1995), Mark Martin
(1997), Truex (2019) and Kyle Larson (2021).

Say What?!
"My thoughts are with Noah [Gragson], I know how much he loves this team and the guys on it. I’m happy to help out
Legacy Motor Club and the No. 42 team. With that being said, I am honored to have even been considered as the driver to fill in for him. I am very appreciative of Maury Gallagher, Jimmie Johnson, Mike Beam, Ron Booth, Joey Cohen, Luke Lambert, Chevrolet, Sunseeker Resorts, and Champion Power Equipment for allowing me to fulfill my dream of racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. While we all wish the circumstances were different, the most important thing we can do is put our best foot forward and make
the most out of this opportunity." - Grant Enfinger
"I always love going back home and racing at Sonoma (Raceway). I always get to see a lot of friends, family and race fans that grew up watching me race sprint cars and stuff around Northern California. I think all of us drivers look forward to going to Sonoma a lot, but with me being from only an hour and half away, it’s a special
place. I’ve always qualified really well there. Since I’ve raced with Hendrick [Motorsports], we got a win there in 2021, led some laps in 2022 and had a fast car. We just missed the strategy some and then had a wheel fall off as we were starting to get back into contention. It’s kind of a flowy track. The tires wear out, so you kind of manage your runs quite a good bit. There’s a lot of elevation change too. I enjoy all that." - Kyle Larson
"It’s one of those places that you really do need to attack a little bit. Road
course racing in general is pretty aggressive, I think that’s fair to say. Last year, it was very track position oriented, and making sure you executed a good race – from having good restarts to being good on pit road to calling the right strategy. Having pace, too, and then that comes back to your qualifying effort. So really, a full weekend of being pretty aggressive, I feel like is probably the best approach to give you a good shot at it." - Chase Elliott
"Sonoma and Phoenix were always the two biggest races of the year for the [Winston] West Series and for the [Featherlite] Southwest Tour. I ran my first race in the Southwest Tour at Sonoma in 1995 and ran it a few more times after that. I ran the West Series race there a few times and a few years back, as well. It’s always been a staple of regional, West Coast racing because of the fact that that’s where the
Cup guys raced, and Phoenix was the same way. Just getting to do something at the highest level, at the same time and at the same venue as the Cup guys, was really cool for the grassroots racers. At one point, I was that grassroots racer that wanted to be in that environment for that particular weekend because it was just cool.
"I think the car is so durable that everybody knows that they can take a chance with it. They depend on the car to take the brunt of the impact compared to what it would’ve been in the past. I think Sonoma is a little
bit different because of the way turn 1 is. It goes right into the first corner, whereas COTA has a big straightaway that leads to a really sharp corner, and that leads to a lot of ramming each other with the car instead of trying to take care of the car. I think at Sonoma it gets spread out a little bit quicker just with the way the restart zone is and how the corners are laid out." - Kevin
Harvick
