- Early this morning in
Australia (Tuesday night in North America), Triple Eight Race Engineering announced the signing of Will Brown, currently of
Erebus Motorsport, to drive what is currently the No. 97 Chevrolet Camaro starting with the beginning of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season. This is the seat currently held by Shane van Gisbergen.
The move, which was teased
recently by van Gisbergen during his appearance on The Dale Jr. Download, more or less confirms that van Gisbergen will leave the championship at the end of the season. Van Gisbergen stated in Chicago back in July after winning the Grant Park 220 that he had one more year on his contract after this one. Triple Eight has indicated that they are willing to let him out of the deal. He is said to be coming to the United States on a full-time basis next year, but no official announcement has
been made to this point.
- NASCAR officially launched the NASCAR Classics website Tuesday. This website has full races (or full broadcasts) available for hundreds of NASCAR Cup Series races from the 1950s to the present. They can be curated by track, year or decade. There is also a list of what NASCAR considers to be the best 75 races in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series, which is sure to invite debate over what deserves to be there and what doesn't.
Effectively, this website is a rabbit hole, so be careful when you dive in because you may lose track of time. As of now, there are no NASCAR Xfinity Series or NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races on the site, in addition to other series. It is available for viewing free of charge.
- The Super DIRTcar Series
SummerFAST event scheduled for Tuesday night at Fulton Speedway was rained out. It will not be rescheduled.
