- CrowdStrike by APR announced Wednesday that they intend to race full-time in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship's LMP2 class in 2024. Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz, who currently drives the No. 04 alongside Ben Hanley, is confirmed as the team's first full-time driver.
The team
originally planned to only run the Michelin Endurance Cup races in 2023. However, a decision was made mid-season to add the sprint races and run for the championship.
In addition, the team intends on running in the Asian Le Mans Series this winter and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Kurtz has multiple routes to get an automatic invite to Le Mans. He is currently third in LMP2 points,
97 points behind PR1 Mathaisen Motorsports' Paul-Loup Chatin and Ben Keating. Beating Keating will earn him an automatic invite. He would also be able to get one from the Asian Le Mans Series with good performances in the five-race championship that starts in December at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia.
The full-season grid for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be
announced during the Motul Petit Le Mans weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Frontstretch will be on-site to bring you coverage.
