- MDK Motorsports and High Class Racing announced Tuesday that they will be joining forces in 2024 to field entries in both IMSA and the Asian Le Mans Series. The No. 20 ORECA 07-Gibson will be shared full-time by longtime High Class driver Dennis Andersen and Seth Lucas, who drove for MDK Motorsports full-time in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS this year. Anders Fjordbach, Andersen's longtime teammate, will
continue to drive for the team in the Michelin Endurance Cup events.
Andersen returns for another full year in the No. 20. This past season, he was supposed to drive full-time, but ultimately missed Watkins Glen. His full-time teammate was former INDYCAR driver Ed Jones, with Fjordbach driving in the endurance events and Raffaele Marciello joining up for Daytona. Andersen ended up eighth in LMP2
points with a best finish of fourth at Indianapolis.
In addition to his SRO America schedule, Lucas drove three races for Ave Motorsports in the LMP3 class alongside Tonis Kasemets. The duo's best finish was a fifth at Sebring.
In the Asian Le Mans Series, Lucas and Fjordbach will share a Ligier
JS P320-Nissan in the four-race mini series that starts next month at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia. That race will mark the series' return to the Far East for the first time since 2020 (the past three seasons have been exclusive to the United Arab Emirates, running at Dubai Autodrome and the Yas Marina Circuit).
In the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, MDK Motorsports' collaboration with
High Class Racing is just one of their scheduled efforts for 2024. A couple of weeks ago, IMSA revealed during their State of the Sport address that the team had acquired a full-season entry in GTD with a Porsche 911 GT3 R, switching numbers from No. 53 to No. 86. No announcements have been made in regards to that effort as of yet.
