- SportsCar365.com is reporting that
United Autosports has signed Nico Pino to serve as the team's third driver in the five Michelin Endurance Cup races for 2024. Pino will replace Alex Quinn, who was originally going to drive in that role at the behest of full-time driver Ben Keating (Keating had shared his car at PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports the past couple of years with Quinn during the endurance events and liked racing with him).
While the official FIA driver ratings for 2024 have not been made available as of yet to the general public as of this morning, it appears that Quinn has been upgraded to gold for next year. That would mean that Quinn could not do all five endurance events in the LMP2 class.
The reasoning is that IMSA has driver rating
rules for the LMP2 class. For all races outside of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, LMP2 teams can have only one gold or platinum-rated driver on the team. The other regular driver must be a bronze-rated driver. In Daytona, you can have two gold-rated drivers or one platinum and one gold-rated driver. Under such rules, Quinn would still be allowed to drive for the team in Daytona.
- The High Limit Sprint Car Series officially rebranded Tuesday into simply High Limit Racing. They will
officially replace the All Star Circuit of Champions (which they acquired earlier this year) as a major touring series with races all over the country. The series will have a minimum of 50 races in 2024. In addition, FLOSports will expand their streaming of the series and has taken a minority equity stake in the company.
The schedule will consist of venues that were on this year's
High Limit Sprint Car Series schedule, some of the bigger racers from the All Star Circuit of Champions such as the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway and additional events. The schedule will be announced at a later date.
The original version of High Limit Racing that focused on mid-week races will continue as the championship-within-a-championship Midweek Money Series. That
championship will have a point fund dedicated to it.
In addition, High Limit Racing co-owner Brad Sweet will leave the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series after five consecutive championships and race full-time in the High Limit Series in 2024. He will continue to drive the No. 49 NAPA Auto Parts entry for Kasey Kahne Racing.
