Seeking the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship: Final Points Update After Corey Heim's Penalty by Phil Allaway
As you saw above, Corey Heim was penalized 25 points for intentionally wrecking Carson Hocevar during Friday night's Craftsman 150. That intentional wreck realistically swung the championship as it set up all the shenanigans that followed. In the
Championship 4 points, the penalty means that Heim falls to fourth in the final point standings, having actually lost points in Phoenix from the 4000-point baseline. In the Old School and WC Points, the penalty would just mean that he would win the title by a smaller margin. In the additional playoff formats that we track, the penalty in the 2011 format would have actually tied him with
Christian Eckes, Friday night's winner. Eckes would likely had won it in that scenario by the second tiebreaker, second-place finishes (Eckes had two in the final 10 races of the year to Heim's one). In the 2004 and 2007 formats, he would win by 19 points over Eckes. Championship 4 Point Standings: 1) Ben Rhodes
