Around the World in Motorsports: March 7 |
- In the opening free practice session at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia this morning, Red Bull's Max Verstappen was fastest overall with a lap at 154.024 mph on the tight and twisty 3.836-mile circuit. The lap was .186 seconds faster than Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso. Sergio Perez was third in the second Red Bull, followed by Mercedes-AMG's George Russell. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was
fifth. There were no red flags during the 60-minute session. However, Aston Martin's Lance Stroll, who was ninth fastest, did brush the wall early on. Damage to his car was minimal.

Frontstretch Line of the Week "My first legend car race was the day I turned 17. So man, I sucked for like the first year and a half, to be honest. But luckily being in the Drive for Diversity program, they gave me time, they let me develop, learn, grow, make mistakes and improve. And so eventually, it got to the point where I was winning late model races
and contending for a lot of ARCA wins and the championship and helped me put me where I’m at now." - Rajah Caruth, on his relatively quick development as a driver. Last year, he claimed that then-teammate Grant Enfinger had more Truck starts than he had total races. Now, he's a race winner.
