- The Super DIRTcar Series held an unusual race Tuesday night at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, the Don Davies New York Modifieds 76 in honor of Davies, a longtime motorsports journalist. The race was split into segments of 46 and 30 laps with points awarded after both segments.
Alex Yankowski won
the first segment and got the honor of pulling the pill that determined how many cars would be inverted. He pulled the No. 6, which resulted in Tim Sears Jr. earning the pole for the second segment.
After the green dropped, Mat Williamson was right on Sears' tail. On lap 51, Williamson was able to take the lead away and held on from there to take the win and a check for
$7,600.
Stewart Friesen was second, then Yankowski, Matt Sheppard and Sears. In the points, Williamson took over the points lead by seven over Anthony Perrego. Sheppard is third, then Peter Britten and Jimmy Phelps.
