- DXDT Racing officially unveiled their new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R Monday. The car was previously announced as making its debut in this weekend's Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS races at Sebring International Raceway. The team also announced that their second Corvette will not replace the existing No. 91 Mercedes. Instead, the team will field another car, the No. 63, with Tommy Milner and Alec Udell sharing the driving
duties.
The new No. 63 car will not be in action this weekend. That team is scheduled to debut at Circuit of the Americas the weekend of May 18-19.
- Retired INDYCAR driver and longtime steward Wally
Dallenbach Sr. passed away Monday at the age of 87. Dallenbach made 180 career starts in USAC Champ Car competition between 1965-1979, earning five victories (three at Ontario, plus one at The Milwaukee Mile and one at New Jersey's Trenton Speedway). His best season was 1973, where he won three races and finished second in points. That year, the qualifying races for the California 500 were points races. Dallenbach won his heat, then won the California 500, one of USAC's Triple Crown
races.
After retiring from driving, Dallenbach began a long career working in race control. He served as the race director for CART from 1981 until 2004, when the series was sold and became the Champ Car World Series.
Dallenbach's son, Trans-Am
champion, NASCAR racer and TV personality Wally Dallenbach Jr., made four CART starts between 1987-1990 while focusing on sports car racing prior to his transition to NASCAR in the early 1990s.
We at Frontstretch send our condolences to the Dallenbach family.
