- World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series teams spent last weekend in Jackson, Minn. Friday night looked like Carson Macedo would dominate the weekend.
Macedo started from pole and led all 30 laps en route to victory. Despite that, he had to deal with pressure late from
Sheldon Haudenschild. David Gravel was third, then Aaron Reutzel and Logan Schuchart.
Saturday night saw Donny Schatz earn the pole and ran hard to maintain the lead. He maintain a comfortable lead for the entire race, but Haudenschild was on a charge in the closing laps.
On the final lap, Haudenschild ran up against the cushion and nearly ran down the legendary racer, but could not prevent Schatz from winning the 46th Annual FENDT Jackson Nationals.
Haudenschild was .175 seconds back at the finish. Gravel was third, then Reutzel and Emerson Axsom.
In the points, Gravel continues to lead by 106 points over Schatz. Macedo is third, then Giovanni Scelzi and Buddy Kofoid.
- The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series spent last weekend at Maquoketa Speedway. It was a good place for Brian
Shirley.
Friday night saw Shirley take the lead on the first lap from pole sitter Tyler Bruening. From there, he led all 40 laps to win the preliminary feature. Ryan Gustin finished second, then Bruening, Bobby Pierce and Cade Dillard.
Saturday night
was a little more difficult. Cody Overton led early from pole, but Shirley took the lead away on lap 7. Shirley had Pierce right behind him, hounding him.
Pierce took the lead away on lap 27 and looked good for victory. Then, a flat right rear tire put him out of contention and gave the lead back to Shirley. Shirley held on from there to take the weekend
sweep.
Shirley won by 1.757 seconds over Nick Hoffman. Brandon Sheppard was third, then Gustin and Chris Simpson. Pierce ended up getting back to 12th by the finish.
