Around the World in Motorsports: Oct. 30 |
- The penalty to Layne Riggs will have a minimal effect on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point standings. Riggs was 11th in points before the penalty. He's still 11th. His margin over Tanner Gray has shrunken from 14 points to four points though. In all the point formats that we track, he would only lose a position if the current points were used for the full season without playoffs. In that case he
would drop from 10th to 11th. - In FIA World Endurance Championship practice, Peugeot TotalEnergies' Paul di Resta was fastest in Free Practice No. 1 with a lap at 109.231 mph. His lap was .049 seconds faster than Porsche Penske Motorsport's Frederic Makowiecki. Ferrari AF Corse's Antonio Giovinazzi was third, then Jean-Eric Vergne in the second Peugeot. Laurens Vanthoor in
the championship-leading No. 6 Porsche was fifth. In LMGT3, Akkodis ASP Team's Kelvin van der Linde was fastest in his Lexus with a lap at 99.172 mph. He was .263 seconds faster than Vista AF Corse's Alessio Rovera. Iron Lynx's Matteo Cairoli was third in his Lamborghini, then Davide Rigon in the second Ferrari. Ben Barker in Proton Competition's Ford Mustang was
fifth.

Frontstretch Line of the Week "I remember — I have an old memory of going to the Chili Bowl when I was young and watching [Kasey Kahne] run the midgets around there and going to the pits and taking a picture with him when I was, I don’t know, probably 18 years old. So that was just another cool memory. And like I
said, ever since then, I was a big Kahne fan." - Blaine Perkins describes seeing his favorite driver, Kasey Kahne, race at the Chili Bowl.
