- For World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series points leader David Gravel, the World of Outlaws World Finals started out as well as it could have. He started from the pole, led all 25 laps and won Night No. 1.
Buddy Kofoid finished second, then Justin Peck. Brian Brown and Logan
Schuchart were fourth and fifth, respectively.
The win increased Gravel's points lead to 86 points over Carson Macedo. Donny Schatz is third, then Kofoid and Giovanni Scelzi.
- In the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series, Ricky Thornton Jr. started on pole, but immediately lost the
advantage to Drake Troutman at the start. Thornton kept right up with Troutman and took advantage of lapped traffic to retake the lead with 13 laps to go.
From there, Thornton held on to take his third straight victory in Charlotte at the World Finals. He won by .780 seconds over Troutman. Chris Madden was third, then Mike Marlar and Daulton Wilson.
In the points, Brandon Sheppard finished 18th. As a result, his points lead is down to 26 over Nick Hoffman. Bobby Pierce is third, then Kyle Bronson and Ryan Gustin.
- In the Super DIRTcar Series, Tim Fuller led flag-to-flag to win the 30-lap preliminary feature Thursday night.
Anthony Perrego was second, then Demetrios Drellos, Mat Williamson and Louden Reimert.
The big news that came out of the race was that Matt Sheppard finished 28th due to a mechanical issue ending his night on lap 24. As a result, Williamson took over the points lead.
Williamson's advantage is 26 points over Sheppard. Perrego is third, then Tim Sears Jr. and Tim Sears Jr.
