- In Formula 2 action, Prema Racing's Oliver Bearman was able to get past Campos Racing's Isack Hadjar with just a couple of laps to go Saturday to win the Sprint race. It was his third Sprint race win of the year.
Bearman won by .295 seconds over DAMS' Jak Crawford. Richard Verschoor was
third, then Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto.
Sunday's Feature race saw a series of safety car interventions force the race to be run on time instead of the scheduled 32-lap distance. With varying pit strategies, Bortoleto ended up in the lead and crossed the line first. However, a five-second penalty for crossing the pit lane entry line to continue on the circuit as a Virtual Safety
Car was being deployed meant that Paul Aron inherited the victory.
Aron won by 2.763 seconds over Hadjar. Bortoleto ended up in third, then Oliver Goethe and Dino Beganovic.
- F1 Academy returned to action in Qatar for what was supposed to be a doubleheader weekend.
On Saturday, Doriane Pin started from pole and dominated the proceedings to win by 6.747 seconds. Rodin Motorsport's Abbi Pulling was second, then Maya Weug in the second Prema entry. Hamna Al Qubaisi and wild card entrance Alisha Palmowski were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Pulling entered the weekend with a 95-point lead. All she needed to do was score six points to
clinch the title. Her second-place finish was more than enough to clinch the title with three races remaining. With the championship, Pulling will move up to the GB3 Championship in a fully paid-for ride.
Race No. 2 Sunday ended up being cancelled. A crash during the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East race resulted in barrier damage that could not be fixed in a timely manner.
