- Era Motorsport announced Thursday that Ryan
Dalziel will be joined full-time in LMP2 in 2025 by Tobias Luetke. David Heinemeier Hansson and Paul-Loup Chatin will complete the team in Daytona.
Luetke, who is the co-founder and CEO of Shopify, comes to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from HSR Prototype Challenge, a new series that launched this year for LMP3 cars, both the second generation cars with approximately 465 horsepower and the
previous generation cars with 420 horsepower. Also of note, Luetke built the first version of Shopify's website using Ruby on Rails, a web framework created by his own teammate for Daytona, Heinemeier Hansson.
- AO Racing announced their lineup for their GTD Pro entry Wednesday. 2024 GTD Pro champion Laurin Heinrich will be back with the team for a second year in "Rexy." He'll be joined by Klaus Bachler for the full season. Bachler was one of Heinrich's part-time teammates after Sebastian Priaulx left the team to work for
Multimatic. Bachler split time between AO Racing and High Class Racing in 2024.
For the Michelin Endurance Cup races, Bachler and Heinrich will be joined by Alessio Picariello. He drove a part-time schedule in Proton Competition's customer Porsche 963 in the GTP class.
- CrowdStrike Racing by APR announced their driver lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona Thursday. George Kurtz will return to the driver's
seat for the first time since July as part of a full season effort. He'll be joined by some familiar drivers.
Joining up for the race will be Toby Sowery and Malthe Jakobsen. Jakobsen drove with the team in this year's Rolex 24 and impressed heavily. He is now a factory driver with Peugeot in the WEC.
Sowery had a deal to drive in the five Michelin Endurance Cup races for the team in 2024. However, he only made three starts before the team withdrew from the remainder of the season.
As you may remember, Kurtz is the CEO of CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm. An update that CrowdStrike pushed out to computers in July resulted in a crash of
Windows computers around the world. While the fix was relatively simple, it took days to deal with doing the fixes and much of the rest of the season for Kurtz to deal with the fallout.
Finally, INDYCAR regular Colton Herta will join the team for Daytona only. The team has not revealed their full-season driver lineup.
- Inter Europol Competition announced last Monday that 2024 LMP2 champion Tom Dillmann will remain with the team (now separated
from PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports) and will attempt to defend his title. He will be joined full-time by Jon Field, former owner of Intersport Racing, who comes out of the Radical Cup. Field, 69, last raced in an IMSA-sanctioned series back in 2011 in the American Le Mans Series.
Bijoy Garg moves over from United Autosports to run in the five Michelin Endurance Cup races. Finally,
Antonio Felix da Costa will be in the car in Daytona.
- Andrew Wojteczko Autosport announced Wednesday that Marvin Kirchhoefer will serve as the fourth driver in the team's Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. He'll join full-time drivers Orey Fidani and Matt Bell, along with endurance driver Lars Kern.
Kirchhoefer drove a McLaren 720S GT3 full-time in the GTD Pro class for Pfaff Motorsports this past season, finishing seventh in points with a best finish of second at Long Beach and Watkins Glen. The Pfaff squad was said to be having financial issues that put their 2025 effort in question before earning a full season entry.
