- Preseason testing for Formula 1 teams began this morning at the Bahrain International Circuit. The morning session is already complete.
In that session, Mercedes' Andrea Kimi Antonelli was fastest with a lap at 132.419 mph. His lap was .132 seconds faster than Red Bull's Liam Lawson.
Williams' Alexander Albon was third, then Yuki Tsunoda and Lewis Hamilton in his public debut for Ferrari.
Session No. 2 is ongoing, but the session was red-flagged for more than an hour due to a power outage at the track.
- The FIA World Endurance Championship season
officially began Wednesday morning with practice for the Qatar 1812km. Ferrari AF Corse's James Calado was fastest overall in his Ferrari 499P with a lap at 118.692 mph. His lap was .232 seconds faster than Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA's Sebastien Bourdais. Miguel Molina was third in the second factory Ferrari, then Toyota GAZOO Racing's Brendon Hartley. BMW M Team RLL's Dries Vanthoor was fifth.
In LMGT3, Akkodis ASP Team's Ben Barnicoat was fastest in his Lexus with a lap at 104.834 mph. His lap was .113 seconds faster than TF Sport's Daniel Juncadella. Teammate Charlie Eastwood was third, then the BMW of The Bend Team WRT's Augusto Farfus. Jose Maria Lopez in the second Akkodis ASP Team Lexus was fifth.
There was a red flag during
the session when The Heart of Racing's Alex Riberas stalled on-track. There were no crashes.
- Free Practice No. 2 saw Alex Lynn go fastest in his Cadillac with a lap at 121.698 mph. He was .305 seconds faster than Ferrari AF Corse's Antonio Fuoco. Robin Frijns was third in his BMW, then Bourdais and Antonio Giovinazzi.
LMGT3 was topped by United Autosports' Sean Galael with a lap at 105.809 mph in his McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. Galael was .136 seconds faster than Barnicoat, while Lopez was third. Vista AF Corse teammates Simon Mann and Davide Rigon were fourth and fifth.
