- Kubota High Limit Sprint Car Series teams made the trip to Australia for an exhibition weekend of racing at Perth Motorplex. Saturday night was the first night of racing.
Here, Cole Macedo led the first 14 laps from the pole. However, lapped traffic slowed Macedo's run,
allowing James McFadden to close up. McFadden took the lead in traffic and held off a charging Callum Williamson for the win.
Behind McFadden and Williamson was Brad Sweet in third. Kyle Larson was fourth, while Dayne Kingshott was fifth.
Race No. 2
Sunday night (Sunday morning in the United States due to the time difference) saw Kyle Larson lead from the pole until he hit the wall and brought out the caution on lap 9. That allowed McFadden to take a lead that he would not give up on his way to his second straight win.
Macedo was second, then Matt Egel and Sweet. Jock Goodyer was fifth. Larson was able to get back
to ninth after his wall contact.
Earlier today, the main show of the High Limit International was held. The feature had a hard time getting going as there were two early red flags. The first was for a hard flip involving Daniel Harding. Shortly after the restart, Ryan Lancaster also had a nasty flip.
For much of the 35-lap race, it was McFadden and Williamson at the front, battling hard for the lead. However, they had to contend with Larson.
Larson ran down McFadden for the lead in the final 10 laps. It did not take long for "Yung Money" to snatch the advantage on lap 27. From there, Larson was able to
hold on to take his first win in Australia and $100,000.
McFadden finished second, denied the weekend sweep. Williamson was third, then Sweet and Kingshott.
- Lamborghini confirmed last Monday that they will keep on their previously announced schedule for IMSA in 2025. That means that the Lamborghini SC63 will appear only at the five Michelin Endurance Cup races. The team of Mirko Bortolotti, Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kyvat and Edoardo Mortara will drive in Daytona. It is unclear
which combination of the four drivers will compete in the other four endurance races.
- Precision Racing LA revealed their 2025 driver lineup for IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Friday. Ryan Eversley moves over from Pirelli GT4 America SprintX to drive the No. 7 Audi RS3 LMS TCR. He'll be joined by the previously announced Celso Neto. Neto is the 2025-26 IMSA Diverse Driver
Scholarship winner.
Eversley raced in five of the seven GT4 America rounds in a Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo in 2024, sharing the car with Harry Cheung, Alexandra Hainer and Mike LaMarra. His best finish was third in the Pro-Am class (ninth overall) in the three-hour Lonestar Enduro at Circuit of the Americas in May.
Neto comes to the team after racing in TC America for Skip Barber Racing School. Driving a Acura Integra Type S TCX, Neto won six of 14 races and finished second in TCX points.
The team's second car, No. 37, will be shared by the father-daughter pairing of Megan
and Ron Tomlinson, both of whom will be making their Pilot Challenge debuts.
The Tomlinsons previously raced in the Sports Car Championship of Canada (SCCC). Megan also competed in the TCR World Tour weekend that was held in support of Pilot Challenge last year at Mid-Ohio (pictured above).
- Rockwell Autosport Development announced Saturday that they will field an Audi RS3
LMS TCR in Michelin Pilot Challenge at Daytona. The driving lineup will consist of Christina Lam, along with Alex and Eric Rockwell.
The release does not indicate what kind of schedule the team will be running in 2025. In 2024, the team only ran the four-hour races at Daytona and Mid-Ohio. The trio of Tom O'Gorman, Doug Oakley and Eric Rockwell finished fourth in the
Daytona season opener this year.
