- AM Racing announced Monday that they
will expand to two cars for this weekend's event at World Wide Technology Raceway. Kole Raz will attempt to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in the No. 76 Ford. Sponsorship will be provided by Cyclum NextGen Travel Center, a chain of travel centers. The centers have 76 gasoline at their pumps, hence the No. 76 that looks like the Unocal 76 logo.
Raz has driven in five races for the team in the ARCA Menards
Series this year with Cyclum sponsorship. A pair of sixth-place finishes at Daytona and Phoenix have been his best finishes.
- RACER reported
Monday that Toyota GAZOO Racing's Mike Conway has been ruled out of this weekend's FIA World Endurance Championship Lone Star Le Mans after suffering a clavicle injury while training last week. Jose Maria Lopez, a veteran of the Hypercar squad, has been called up to drive in Conway's place this weekend in Texas.
The move
has a knock-on effect. Lopez drives full-time for Akkodis ASP Team in the LMGT3 class. Since he cannot drive both cars, the team has announced that
Jack Hawksworth will drive the No. 87 Lexus in Lopez's place.
This is the second time that Hawksworth has been called up to drive for the team this year. Earlier this year, Hawksworth was called up to drive the No. 78 Lexus at Le Mans in place of Ben Barnicoat, who was still recovering at the time from a biking injury.
