- VPX Motorsports' Matheus Leist was fastest overall in the opening IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge practice session with a lap at 103.871 mph Wednesday afternoon. This lap, if set during a qualifying session, would be a class record at Sebring by nearly three-tenths of a second.
Leist's
lap was .057 seconds faster than the similar Porsche of Czabok-Simpson Motorsports' Morgan Burkhard. Koch-Copeland Motorsports' Jaxon Bell was third in his Supra, then BGB Motorsports' Spencer Pumpelly. Panam Motorsport's Thiago Camilo was fifth.
In TCR, Victor Gonzalez Racing's Franco Girolami was fastest in class with a lap at 101.842 mph, good for 30th overall in his Cupra
Leon VZ TCR. The lap was .467 seconds fastest than Montreal Motorsport Group's Louis-Phillippe Montour. Stallion Motorsports' Celso Neto was third fastest, then KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering's Tim Lewis Jr. Bryan Herta Autosport's Harry Gottsacker was fifth in the fastest of the Hyundais.
In Practice No. 2 Thursday morning, defending IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge
GSX champion Kiko Porto was fastest in his Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 with a lap at 104.053 mph. The lap was .147 seconds faster than the McLaren of Ibiza Farm Motorsport's Moisey Uretsky. Panam Motorsport's Caio Chaves was third, then Pumpelly and Burkhard.
In TCR, Montreal Motorsports Group's Karl Wittmer was fastest in his Honda Civic Type-R TCR with a lap at 101.506 mph, 31st
overall. Wittmer's lap was .120 seconds faster than Neto. Bryan Herta Autosport's Denis Dupont was third, followed by Steven Clemons in the second VGR Cupra. KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering's Rocco Pasquarella was fifth.
There was a red flag during the session when LAP Motorsports' Scott Thomson went off at turn 16 in his Ford Mustang GT4 late in the session. He was able to drive back to the pits but will
lose his fastest qualifying time this afternoon due to causing a red flag.
