- World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTvision teams were at Georgetown Speedway Wednesday night for the Visit Delaware 51. Here, Bobby Pierce blew an engine in his primary car, brought out the backup, then set quick time.
In the race, Drake Troutman was able to take the lead from
Mason Zeigler early on, then ended up in a battle for the lead with Pierce in lapped traffic. On lap 22, Troutman tried to go to the inside of Jamie Lathroum and had contact with him. Lathroum spun out to bring out the yellow, while Troutman cut his right rear tire.
That gave the lead to Pierce. From there, he led the remaining laps to take his 50th career victory in just over five
years.
Pierce won by .949 seconds over Ryan Gustin. Nick Hoffman was third, then Tyler Erb and a surging Troutman after his tire change.
In the points, Pierce retakes the points lead by four points over Hoffman. Erb is third, then Tim McCreadie and
Gustin.
- Also on the bill in Delaware Wednesday night was the Super DIRTcar Series. Here, Alex Yankowski started on the pole and led flag-to-flag to win the Delaware Diamond 50.
Yankowski won by .609 seconds over Stewart Friesen. Peter Britten was third, then Mat
Williamson and Billy Pauch Jr. NASCAR Cup Series regular Christopher Bell was sixth in his Big Block debut.
In the points, Williamson has a three-point lead over Friesen through two races. Friesen is not full-time in the series due to his commitments to NASCAR, Fonda Speedway and the Short Track Super Series. Yankowski is third, then Britten and Jack
Lehner.
