- World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTvision teams returned to Marion Center Raceway Wednesday to complete the Connor Bobik Memorial. The race was originally scheduled for May 16, but was rained out.
With an all-star field on hand for a midweek show, Dustin Sorensen started from
pole, but quickly lost his advantage to Bobby Pierce. Pierce, fresh off a win in the Show-Me 100 from 20th on the grid, had to deal with Hudson O'Neal, one of the strongest late model racers in the country right now.
The two drivers dueled for much of the 60-lap race. Late cautions kept everyone close, but Pierce was able to hold on to take home the win and a check for
$30,000.
O'Neal ended up second, then Drake Troutman and Sorensen. Max Blair was fifth.
The ninth win of the year for Pierce also got him the points lead. His advantage is 17 points over Nick Hoffman, who finished 13th. Tim McCreadie is third, then Troutman and Tyler
Erb.
