- In Day No. 1 of the Unser Open Test at Phoenix Raceway, Team Penske's David Malukas was fastest overall with a lap at 172.605 mph. He was .0708 seconds faster than teammate Josef Newgarden. Andretti Global's Will Power, who ran a previous test for the series at Phoenix, was third, followed by Kyle Kirkwood and Alex Palou.
There was one incident during the test Tuesday as A.J. Foyt Enterprises' Caio Collet spun in turn 4 and backed into the wall. He walked away from the crash.
Also of note, IndyCar has revised the track length at Phoenix Raceway back down to one mile. When they previously raced there, the track length was 1.022 miles. With that track length, Malukas' quick lap would have been
176.402 mph.
