- In Day No. 2 of the Unser Open Test at Phoenix Raceway Wednesday, Ed Carpenter Racing's Alexander Rossi was fastest with a lap at 174.444 mph around the one-mile tri-oval. His lap was .0097 seconds faster than Team Penske's Josef Newgarden. Chip Ganassi
Racing's Alex Palou was third, then David Malukas and Patricio O'Ward.
In between the two sessions, rain showers descended upon the facility, delaying on-track action for 90 minutes. Once the testing resumed, it was the same story as in the morning. Rossi was fastest again with a lap at 174.542 mph, the fastest lap of the Open Test. He was .0733 seconds faster than teammate
Christian Rasmussen. Palou was third, then Andretti Global's Will Power and Meyer Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian's Marcus Armstrong.
There was one incident during Wednesday's testing. Andretti Global's Marcus Ericsson spun in turn 4 during the final session and backed into the outside wall. He was unhurt.
