- The Super DIRTcar Series was at Ransomville Speedway Tuesday night for the Ron Martin Summer Nationals. The night was partially designed to honor Stan Friesen, former track promoter and Stewart Friesen's father, who was inducted into the track's Ring of Honor.
When it was time to race, Stewart came out to play. Starting
12th, Stewart moved up to fifth early on. A flip for Ryan Krachun resulted in a brief red flag (he walked away after his crash). Once the race resumed, Stewart continued his charge forward.
Just before halfway, he caught Matt Sheppard for the lead. The two veterans battled hard, but Stewart was able to take the lead on lap 30. From there, he held on to take the win.
Sheppard held on for second, followed by Mat Williamson and Gary Lindberg. Pole sitter Darren Smith finished fifth.
Williamson's third-place finish and Alex Yankowski's seventh-place finish means that Yankowski's point lead that he acquired last week at Lebanon Valley is down to only three points.
Sheppard is third, then Mike Mahaney and Jack Lehner.
