Kevin Harvick ran up into the lead late Thursday night, but fell back late to a fourth-place finish. That allowed him to pad his
lead even more. He is now 97 points ahead of Brad Keselowski, who finished second and gained a place. Ryan Blaney is down one place to third after hitting the wall late. Earning 16 stage points nearly negated the 20th-place finish. Denny Hamlin is up to fourth after winning his fifth race of the year.
Chase Elliott remains in fifth after having a relatively quiet run to 12th. Joey Logano dropped down to sixth after cutting a
tire and crashing out. Martin Truex Jr. is still in seventh after finishing third. Aric Almirola is eighth after earning the same amount of points that Harvick did.
Kyle Busch jumped over his brother and is now ninth after earning his first playoff point of the year. He had to recover after wall
contact to finish 11th. Kurt Busch is down to 10th despite a ninth-place finish. Alex Bowman remains in 11th after finishing in eighth. Clint Bowyer avoided the wrecks and finished 14th, enough to move him back up to 12th, accomplishing the first goal that he has set out for himself recently.
Matt DiBenedetto crashed out on the backstretch and finished 36th. That dropped him one place to 13th. William Byron
finished 10th and moved up two places to 14th. He is now the last driver in the playoffs. He is 10 points ahead of Tyler Reddick, who gained two places by finishing 13th and earning five stage points. Erik Jones is up two places to 16th after finishing fifth.
Texas winner Austin Dillon fell three places to 17th after being involved in the same wreck as Logano and DiBenedetto. It was thought that he was going to have to retire as well, but the Richard Childress Racing team fixed the No. 3,
allowing Dillon to continue and finish 16 laps down in 27th. Jimmie Johnson was eliminated due to damage from the DiBenedetto-Logano crash and finished 32nd. That dropped him all the way back to 18th. Cole Custer finished a quiet seventh and moved up into a tie for 19th with Bubba Wallace, who crashed out and finished 37th.
