- Walkenhorst Racing's BMWs dominated Sunday's Indianapolis 8 Hours, taking control of the race during the very wet first couple of hours. Pit strategies were all over the place with some teams stopping early, while others chose to stick it out, hoping the track would dry
out.
The team to beat early was K-PAX Racing with their Bentley. They had stayed out longer and were leading when Jordan Pepper collided with a GT4 McLaren and broke his right rear suspension in the process. That cleared the way for a one-two BMW finish. The No. 34
BMW M6 GT3 of Nicky Catsburg, Connor de Phillippi and Augusto Farfus won by 41.346 seconds over the second BMW of Martin Tomczyk, David Pittard and Nick Yelloly. Team Honda Racing's Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Dane Cameron, Mario Farnbacher and Renger van der Zande was a lap down in third, while the Audi Sport Team Hardpoint WRT Audi of Mirko Bortolotti, Spencer Pumpelly and Markus Winkelhock was three laps down in fourth. DXDT Racing's Colin Braun, Ben Keating and George Kurtz won the
Pro-Am class while finishing fifth overall.
In the GT4 class, BimmerWorld Racing's Bill Auberlen, James Clay and Chandler Hull claimed the class victory and finished 10th overall in their BMW M4 GT4. They ended up only 6.508 seconds ahead of ST Racing's similar BMW shared by Jon Miller, Samantha Tan and Nick
Wittmer. GMG Racing's Porsche for Jason Bell, Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell was third, while the Rennsport One-run Notlad Racing Aston Martin shared by Joe Dalton, Patrick Gallagher and Jonathan Taylor were a lap down in fourth.
- The eight-hour race was also the final round of the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS. Martin Fuentes clinched the Pro-Am title by reaching the 70% mark of the first three hours of the race (126 minutes in).
- Saturday's final TC America race of the season saw Victor Gonzalez Jr. earn his first victory of 2020 in his Honda Civic Type-R TCR. The margin was 10.584 seconds over Friday winner Tristan Herbert. Roy Block was third in his Alfa Romeo, while the Hondas of CJ
Moses and Olivia Askew were fourth and fifth.
- In TC, LA Honda World Racing's Mat Pombo led flag-to-flag to claim the weekend sweep in his TC class Honda Civic Type-R. He was roughly 17 seconds ahead of Fast Track Racing's Toby Grahovec, but Gonzalez had lapped Grahovec. As a result, Pombo finished on a lap of
his own. Bryson Lew was third, followed by James Clay and Johan Schwartz. Clay's fourth-place finish wrapped up the TC championship.
- TCA saw TechSport Racing's Eric Powell claim victory in his Subaru BRZ tS. He was 4.382 seconds ahead of the Honda Civic Si Coupe of Kevin Boehm at the finish. MINI teammates Mark Pombo and Tomas Mejia were third and fourth, while PJ Groenke was
fifth.

- Teams are back at their shops today preparing for this weekend's action at Charlotte Motor Speedway's ROVAL. We'll have the entry lists for Talladega and anything else that breaks today at Frontstretch.

Seeking the NASCAR Cup Series Championship: Denny Hamlin Snags Points Lead with Yellawood 500 Victory
by Phil Allaway
Denny Hamlin may have gotten forced below the yellow line on the final lap Sunday, but he was able to power through to claim his seventh win of 2020. That boosted him into the
points lead. His advantage is 20 points over Kevin Harvick, who was involved in multiple wrecks Sunday and finished 20th. Chase Elliott moves up three positions to third after finishing fifth on appeal (he had originally been penalized for a yellow line violation and dropped to 22nd). Brad Keselowski crashed multiple times as well and finished 18th. Despite that, he only lost two points to the lead and dropped to fourth.
Martin Truex Jr. finished 24th after being involved in a late crash and dropped to fifth because of it. Alex Bowman is up one place to sixth after finishing
14th. Joey Logano led the most laps, but was eliminated late and finished 26th. That dropped him to seventh, the last man into the Round of 8 on points. Logano has a 21-point advantage over both Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon. Busch was caught up in three separate wrecks and caused another yellow due to a blown tire. He still managed to finish 27th. Dillon finished 12th after having to change a radiator and losing two
laps.
Kurt Busch was already locked into the Round of 8 after winning in Las Vegas. He'll need that because he crashed out big time on Sunday and dropped to 10th. Clint Bowyer
was eliminated in the same crash as Kurt Busch and dropped to 11th. Aric Almirola was spun out of the lead on Lap 58 and finished 37th, dropping him to 12th. Bowyer and Almirola will need to win in Charlotte to advance.
Outside of the playoffs, Ryan Blaney was eliminated in a late crash and was credited with 25th. He is still 13th, but only one point ahead of William Byron, who finished fourth. Matt DiBenedetto would have been 13th had he
not been penalized at the finish. As it stands, he's down one place to 15th. Cole Custer remains in 16th.
Of those who failed to qualify for the Round of 16, Jimmie Johnson is still leading that group, but he was effectively parked after repairs failed to hold on his Ally Chevrolet. The track being littered with debris brought out a yellow and left
him with a 29th-place finish. Johnson is three points ahead of Erik Jones, who finished second. Tyler Reddick recovered from multiple incidents to finish seventh and hold onto 19th, while Chris Buescher originally scored the most points Sunday (49) before he was penalized for forcing drivers below the yellow line. He is still in 20th.

Seeking the Xfinity Series Championship: Chase Briscoe Expands Lead Despite Late Wall Contact
by Phil Allaway
Chase Briscoe was the man to beat Saturday, leading 73 of 113 laps. However, contact with the wall in the final laps dropped him to a
20th-place finish. Despite that, he won the first two stages and was able to expand his points lead to 34 over Austin Cindric. Cindric was Briscoe's wingman for most of the race until he crashed trying to pit under green and finished 35th. Noah Gragson remains in third after a fourth-place finish. Justin Haley's second straight victory at Talladega moved him up to fourth.
Brandon Jones finished fifth despite being late for the command to start engines and moved himself up to fifth. Ryan Sieg is up one place
to sixth after a strong third-place finish. Justin Allgaier dropped to seventh after suffering an engine failure and finishing 30th. Ross Chastain recovered from an early crash to finish seventh and move up to eighth, the last position to get into the Round of 8.
Chastain's advantage is three points over Harrison Burton. Burton dropped a spot to ninth after crashing on the last lap and finishing 24th. Brandon Brown is up to 10th after finishing ninth, while Riley
Herbst stays in 11th after crashing out early. Michael Annett was set to move up to ninth and be only three points behind Chastain after finishing second on-track Saturday. However, his Pilot Flying J Chevrolet flunked the height sticks. The disqualification that resulted dropped him back to 12th. He's now 38 points behind Chastain and looking at a must-win to advance.
In the Owners' playoffs, Sieg's No. 39 and Brown's No. 68 did not qualify. Daniel Hemric's sixth-place finish has elevated the No. 8 for JR Motorsports up to sixth. Anthony Alfredo's 13th-place finish keeps the No. 21 for
Richard Childress Racing in eighth. The No. 21 is two points ahead of Kaulig Racing's No. 10 for Chastain.
Outside of the playoffs, Jeremy Clements holds onto 13th despite a mediocre 21st-place finish. He is 53 points ahead of Josh Williams, who finished eighth. Alex Labbe moved up to 15th after an 11th-place finish, while

Seeking the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Championship: Sheldon Creed Wins Round of 10
by Phil Allaway
Sheldon Creed was in position to win Saturday's Chevrolet Silverado 250. Then, he cut a tire with a few laps to go. A caution kept
him on the lead lap and allowed him to finish 12th. That was enough to give him the win in the Round of 12. His final margin was five points over Brett Moffitt, who finished seventh. Grant Enfinger moved up one place to third after finishing 13th. Austin Hill moved up three places to fourth despite crashing out on the final lap and being credited with 19th.
Matt Crafton claimed sole possession of fifth after finishing in eighth. Ben Rhodes moved into a tie for sixth after finishing
fourth. He ended up tied with Zane Smith, who dropped back from third after being eliminated in a big crash on lap 13 and finishing 33rd. Tyler Ankrum dropped to eighth after finishing 16th, but he managed to claim the last spot in the Round of 8.
Christian Eckes was in position to claim the final spot himself, but he got taken out in a crash on the last lap and finished 18th. The dropped
him eight points behind Ankrum and ended his championship chances for 2020. Todd Gilliland ran well, but a blown engine resulted in a 28th-place finish and kept him in 10th.
Outside of the playoffs, Derek Kraus remains in 11th after winning stage two and finishing 10th. He is 78 points ahead of Raphael Lessard, who gained a place in the standings after claiming his first Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series
victory on Saturday. Tanner Gray is down to 13th after crashing out in the oil from Gilliland's blown engine. Johnny Sauter is up to 14th after finishing 11th.
Stewart Friesen is down to 15th after crashing out on the final lap Saturday. In addition, he copped a 20-point penalty for failing pre-race
inspection. The result is that Friesen leaves Talladega with the same 415 points that he had when he arrived there. Ty Majeski is still in 16th after having missed the last four races.
For the Round of 8, Hill and Creed will start the round tied for the lead with 3028 points. They will be six points ahead of Smith, while Enfinger will be fourth.
In the Owners' playoffs, Chandler Smith finished third Saturday, which puts the No. 51 fourth in points at the end of the Round of 10. They will be in the Round of 8 in place of GMS Racing's No. 26. For the Round of 8, the No. 51 will

Letter of the Race: Sunday's YellaWood 500 was brought to you by the letter S for
Slow. Talladega races, even with incidents, tend to run pretty quick. As long as none of the infrastructure gets damaged significantly, the race is done in a little more than three hours. Sunday's race without the red flags took four hours and six minutes and was run at an average of 129.774 mph. It is the slowest Cup race at Talladega since the 2004 Aaron's 499. - Phil Allaway

Quotes to Remember: YellaWood 500
by Phil Allaway
"A lot of stuff happened for sure. I don’t know if [Matt DiBenedetto] was running out of gas, but they obviously got shuffled there. They were crashing up top. I think [Erik Jones] hit the wall and then started coming
back down, which forced I think me and [William Byron] down to the apron. Just was able to overcome. This is one of those that you don’t plan on winning, but we got away with one today.
(On strategy) "I hate to say it, but you have to play the game. You have to get to the next round. To win the championship, you have to win the last race and you have to get to the last race. For us, we played the
strategy to play the numbers to make sure we got locked in and then win the race." - Denny Hamlin, race winner
"It was good. Obviously, wish we could have won it there at the end. We had to throw a big block and got in the wall, but still came back and finished second there. Good day. The car was strong. The Sport Clips Camry
had good speed and we led a lot of laps. Just didn’t totally play out at the end. You can’t ask for a lot more. We were there and coming to the line with a shot to win." - Erik Jones, finished second
"I’m so proud of the effort for Germain Racing and GEICO. We are all fighting for jobs next year, including myself, so that’s the foot you want to put forward at one of these races winding down. It’s been a great run
with this team and hopefully we can all work together in the future. I knew it was going to be hard to push anybody in front of me with these noses having a little too much point, but our GEICO For Your RV Chevrolet had enough speed to hang in there. I fell back to sixth in line, but when they all started to get into each other, I knew my outlet was to the bottom to have a chance to win and that’s what we are here for. I stayed on the bottom to hopefully be in position to win low if something
were to happen. But to finish third – my personal career-best Cup finish and Germain’s best Cup finish as a team – is something I’m really proud of. It was a fun day and a long day. Thanks to all the fans who came out today too. It was good to have them here with us. I’m just extremely grateful to GEICO and Bob Germain for everything they have done for me the last four years." - Ty DIllon, finished third
"It’s tough not to get the win today but to finish fourth is good. It’s just unfortunate. We had a really good run there on the final lap and I got a good push from the 11 in (turns) 1 and 2 that set that up. I was
able to get to [Chris Buescher] and push him and then found some daylight on the bottom to have a run at [Matt DiBenedetto]. Unfortunately, he blocked us there and put us below the yellow line. Fortunately, though we were able to save it and still finish in the top five. Today was a good run for us. We really needed to finish a race after the last couple weeks and it’s good to have a result like today." - William Byron, finished fourth
"That was a crazy race at Talladega Superspeedway, but I’m proud of my No. 8 Cat Next Gen Dozers team for rallying all day long. They worked really hard all race long to keep me in the game when we got into some
trouble, and I really appreciate it. We got caught up in a wreck on Lap 1 that changed our game plan a little bit when we got some nose damage from the No. 95, but my team was able to make all the repairs quickly enough to get us back on our normal strategy by the time the competition caution came out. It was a lot about survival today with all the wrecks that were happening. I was able to squeeze through a couple big ones, but also got caught up in a couple others. Luckily, nothing was bad
enough to take us out of the race completely. We just stayed focused, fixed what we needed to each time and kept fighting for every spot we could. It was a wild race today, so I’m happy we are able to come home with a seventh-place finish." - Tyler Reddick, finished seventh
"What a race today at Talladega Superspeedway. To be able to bring home a top-10 finish in our No. 37 Kroger Chevrolet after the season we have had feels like a win. I wish we didn’t have as much damage there at the
end and we could give a little bit of a better push, but ultimately we needed fuel for the final NASCAR Overtime and needed to pit from the front anyway. I’m really proud of our Kroger team to be able to fix the damage that we did have and keep us there at the front at the end. We’ve got five races to continue finishing out this season strong and I’m looking forward to ending the season on a high note." - Ryan Preece, finished 10th
"I hope Tony Stewart is watching because he would be proud. We wrecked every car in the field and I wrecked four times in somebody else’s mess. This rules package just has everybody so on top of each other. Runs are
just so fast and everybody wants to block and the runs are too fast to block and causes a lot of wrecks, but we made it through somewhat okay, I guess. We finished 18th and scored a lot of stage points, got a decent points cushion going into the Roval, but that’s gonna be a madhouse because there are a lot of cars next week that are gonna need a big race. Hopefully, we just get through there with a solid day with the Discount Tire Ford and move on." - Brad Keselowski, finished
18th
"It’s just a crazy finish. I haven’t been able to really process it. I just really want to get this thing in Victory Lane. This Tuscany Faucets team. I feel like this is the same story a lot of times, just heartbreak.
My wife and I have had a stressful week again just with the uncertainty — always fighting for my life — but I’m so appreciative of this team. The Wood Brothers, I want this 100th win for the Woods so bad. Our alliance with Team Penske, Ford — I appreciate them putting me in this car. It’s so much fun to drive and have a shot to win. Denny did a great job. Deja vu. Holy cow. Denny deserves all the support in the world. He’s an incredible racer. He was my biggest threat. I tried to block all I
could. My spotter, Doug, did a great job. This is tough." - Matt DiBenedetto, finished 22nd (before he was penalized)
"I don’t really know – I haven’t seen a replay yet. It was a big learning curve day for me. I think I came down on the No. 37 (Ryan Preece) there and started that whole deal, so that’s on me. It’s just unfortunate. It
was a really good day for us in our Richard Petty Motorsports No. 43 World Wide Technology Camaro ZL1 1LE. We’ve got a lot to look over and review, which is good. We led some laps and had a really solid car. Hats off to my guys for a really solid effort – getting it fixed there at lap one. It was definitely a hard hit, but all-in-all, we’re good. We’ll try to take what we can from today. I love coming to these plate races. It’s showing, but we didn’t get the finish that we deserved today.
All-in-all, we’ll go to the Roval and have some fun." - Bubba Wallace, finished 24th (Crashed out)
"We had a lot of speed in our Shell/Pennzoil Mustang car. It was fast and it was up towards the front the whole race, leading a lot of laps. We were right where we wanted to be at the end of the race and the 9 had a
huge run. I probably shouldn’t have tried to block it. He was so fast and I lost a lot of momentum when I tried to block that, and that gave the 24 a big run and then I got in the middle and then I got in the soup and the next thing that happens is they all crashed, so it’s gonna be a tough week next week." - Joey Logano, finished 26th (Crashed out)
"Yeah, I guess. The car was just real slow due to all of the damage, obviously, so I’m just holding up the line. I was trying to draft off the guys in front of me and I’m pushing too much backwards on the guys that are
trying to push me forwards and it creates a wreck. Oh, well. The M&M’s Camry guys did a great job and just wish there was more for it. I just hate it when I’m right." - Kyle Busch, finished 27th (Crashed out)
"Yeah, it was a wild ride. That’s the nature of this sport. You’re on top one week with a win and everything’s fantastic. And then this week here at Talladega, we were hoping for a nice, smooth run and to gain some
points. I was just doing my job as a Chevy helper running top five and next thing you know, I’m going for one of the wildest rides I’ve ever been in." - Kurt Busch, finished 32nd (Crashed out)
"You’ve got to go. You’ve got to push him. The 22 and the 21 were trying and obviously they gave up on it for some reason. As soon as I got to him I push him in the front and the whole rear of the car went down and I
was like, ‘Oh my God,’ and before I know it he was tank swapping all over the place. I don’t know if that was how they had their cars built or whatever, but as soon as you got close to him he was all over the place. Obviously didn’t mean to wreck him, but you’re going hard and three-wide and people are behind you pushing. I was hoping he would save it, but he didn’t and we all wrecked." - Clint Bowyer, finished 33rd (Crashed out)
