- Red Bull announced Friday that Sergio Perez will drive for the team full-time in Formula 1 in
2021, replacing Alexander Albon. Perez is coming off his best season in F1, scoring his first career victory in the Sakhir Grand Prix, along with two podium finishes in 15 starts (he missed both rounds at Silverstone due to testing positive for COVID-19).
- AlphaTauri announced Wednesday that Yuki Tsunoda will join the team to replace Daniil Kyvat in
2021. Tsunoda finished third in the FIA Formula 2 Championship this year with three victories, seven podium finishes and four poles. Those accomplishments earned Tsunoda the Anthoine Hubert Award, an award given in honor of the late racer for the best rookie in F2.
- Hendrick Motorsports announced Wednesday that Llumar will move over from the former No. 88 (now No. 5) to
sponsor Chase Elliott for two races in each of the next three seasons.
- Action Express Racing announced Thursday that Loic Duval and Tristan Vautier will share the No. 5 Cadillac DPi-V.R. for the full 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Sebastien Bourdais, who raced full-time in 2020, will compete in the endurance races.
- In Sunday's Super Formula season finale at Fuji Speedway, INGING Racing's Sho Tsuboi held off a late charge from Toshiki Oyu to claim his second win of the year. Nobuharu Matsushita was third, while Nick Cassidy came from last on the grid in a race without a safety car period to finish
fourth. Team Dandelion Racing's Naoki Yamamoto finished fifth to claim the 2020 Super Formula championship. It is a double championship year for Yamamoto as he previously won the SuperGT GT500 class championship for Team Kunimitsu.
