- John Colum Crichton-Stuart, the 7th Marquess of Bute, died Monday at the age of 62 in his native Scotland after what is being described as a brief illness. In regular life, Crichton-Stuart rarely went by his real name. He either went by John Bute, or by his racing pseudonym, Johnny Dumfries.
Dumfries is best known for competing in Formula 1 for Lotus in 1986 as Ayrton Senna's teammate. In 16 starts, Dumfries compiled three points (fifth at the Hungaroring and sixth in Adelaide) to Senna's 55. He was far
more successful in sports car racing, where he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988, sharing a Jaguar with Jan Lammers and Andy Wallace. We at Frontstretch send our condolences to Dumfries' family.
- Martinsville Speedway announced Monday that the Xfinity Series April race has a title sponsor. The race will now be known as the Cook Out 250.
- In addition, the Camping World Truck Series race at Darlington Raceway May 7 also has a new sponsor. It will be known as the Lift Kits 4 Less.com 200.
