- Brad Sweet denied a near-sellout crowd Tuesday night a local victory by snagging the lead away from Sye Lynch on lap 12. From there, Sweet pulled away to win the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway, just barely beating out the rain to take home $25,000. It is Sweet's 14th victory of the season.
Sweet ended up 5.381 seconds ahead of Donny Schatz at the finish. Aaron Reutzel finished third, followed by David Gravel. Sweet's teammate James McFadden was fifth. Only 11 of the 25 starters finished on the lead lap.
Lynch, a regular at Lernerville from Apollo, Penn. dominated the rest of the night. He had been fastest in time trials, won his heat and the dash to claim the pole for the A-Main. Unfortunately, after he lost the lead, he fell back to finish a lap down in 15th.
- The Super DIRTcar Series' rescheduled Liberty 100 at Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, N.Y. was postponed again due to rain. Time trials and all of the heats were completed prior to a thunderstorm descending upon the facility.
The current plan is to tack the Last Chance Showdowns and the Liberty 100 onto one of the two remaining Super DIRTcar Series stops at Land of Legends this season. Those dates are Aug. 4 and Sept. 18.
