- A rather unusual penalty has been applied in the World of Outlaws NoS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Roth Motorsports' Aaron Reutzel has been suspended for 30 days, retroactive to July 31
and fined $10,000 for intentionally trying to circumvent inspection procedures. He has also been docked 1000 driver points, which will drop him from seventh to 11th in points.
Reutzel attempted to race a chassis at Weedsport Speedway that had previously failed inspection due to tubing that had failed to meet minimum specifications. This was done by taking the inspection sticker off of a legal chassis and putting it on the illegal one.
Roth Motorsports themselves have been fined $10,000 and docked 500 owner points, which cannot be appealed and must be paid before the team can compete again. However, they are not suspended. The team has announced that Parker Price-Miller will replace Reutzel in the No. 83 until Reutzel's suspension is up. Bryan Keith has more in today's edition of Thinkin' Dirty.
- At Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, N.Y., the Super DIRTcar Series held double features Wednesday night on the half-mile oval. In Race No. 1, a make-up event from July, Australian racer Peter Britten picked up the victory over Erick Rudolph, who is experiencing a boost in popularity since Post Malone performed while wearing one of Rudolph's t-shirts recently. Tim Fuller
was third, followed by Jimmy Phelps and Jack Lehner.
In the regularly scheduled second feature, Stewart Friesen overcame a very quick Mike Mahaney to take his fourth victory of the season. Fuller finished second, followed by Mahaney, Rudolph and Matt Sheppard.
Through nine races, Friesen is still leading the points by 56 points while running full-time in the Camping World Truck Series. The only race that he missed due to his schedule ended up being cancelled due to rain. Sheppard is second, then Britten, Max McLaughlin and Billy Decker.
