Around the World in Motorsports: Sept. 7

- Yesterday, NASCAR held an eight-car test for NextGEN cars at Daytona International Speedway. In between the afternoon thunderstorms that Central Florida is well-known for, teams tried out the new cars in single-car runs and in small packs. Speeds were comparable to the pace seen during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona back on Aug. 28.

| | Kyle Busch Fined $50,000 for Safety Violation at Darlington
NASCAR fined Kyle Busch $50,000 Tuesday for committing a safety violation during Sunday night's Cook Out Southern 500. He entered the garage in an unsafe fashion, potentially endangering crewmembers.

| | Kyle Larson Grabs Richmond Cup Pole
After leading the most laps and finishing second Sunday night in Darlington, Hendrick Motorsports' Kyle Larson will start on pole in Saturday night's Federated Auto Parts Salute to First Responders 400 at Richmond Raceway.
Denny Hamlin starts second, then Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick.

For Saturday night's Cup race in Richmond, there are 37 teams entered. JJ Yeley will drive Rick Ware Racing's No. 53 in place of James Davison.

Beard Motorsports announced Tuesday that they intend to attempt the races at Daytona and Talladega next season with their No. 62 Chevrolet. No word on who will drive.

For Saturday afternoon's Xfinity Series Go Bowling 250, there are 41 teams entered. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will make his only start of the season in the No. 8. Sam Mayer will drive the BJ McLeod-owned No. 99 in a
partnership with JR Motorsports.

Team Penske's Austin Cindric will start on pole in Saturday afternoon's Go Bowling 250 at Richmond Raceway. Harrison Burton starts second, then Noah Gragson, Justin Haley and Justin Allgaier.

Niece Motorsports announced Tuesday that Chris Hacker will join the team for two races in the No. 45 Chevrolet starting at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Williams Racing announced Wednesday morning that Alexander Albon will return to F1, after a year in DTM, to partner with Nicholas Latifi for 2022.
